Membership
Membership of Dark Peak for 2012 costs £15 with an extra £5 levy to UK Athletics (UKA) for non-members of the Fell Runners Association (FRA). The unwaged get a £7 discount. Our affiliation number is 2660122.
The club affiliates to UKA for fell running only, so there is no conflict if you already belong to another club that does not affiliate for fell running (e.g. Hallamshire Harriers). If your current club does affiliate for fell running, then you have to jump through a few UKA hoops in order to change your allegiance - we can advise on this. Basically you can belong to as many clubs as you like, but you can only represent the one that you joined first (links to the forms needed to make these changes are at the bottom of this page).
Benefits of membership include:
- Four full-colour newsletters (28-40 pages each) per year with news, features and results.
- Wednesday evening training sessions. These are often from our club hut at The Sportsman, Lodge Moor, Sheffield, although we also venture into the Peak District. See the calendar for details (and you can subscribe to it in iCalendar format at http://www.dpfr.org.uk/ical/dpfr.ics).
- View some typical training runs/races
- Social events including an annual dinner, carol singing at the Headstone and a family barbecue.
- The right to wear the club's unique and distinctive peat-coloured vests!
